  • Sports Hall of Fame Press Conference: You will not want to miss the official announcement of the Coastal Bend Sports Hall of Fame event held on Friday, February 16th at 10am at the American Bank Center.  

  • Monthly Data Snapshot: Check out our monthly tourism data snapshot to ensure your business decisions are well-informed and backed up, for instance, hotels have been able to raise rates this year by 3% and still experience an occupancy increase, leading to a 6% increase in RevPAR during Q1 of this year.

  • Financial Audit: Visit Corpus Christi proudly reports the fourth consecutive year of a clean audit from Adamson and Company, showcasing unwavering dedication to financial integrity and transparency.

  • Workforce and Summer Summit Save the Date : Learn how your business can be peak season ready with the annual Visit Corpus Christi Workforce and Summer Summit on April 17th.

  • Partner Acknowledgments: On behalf of Visit Corpus Christi, we would like to congratulate our Immediate Past Chair, Deven Bhakta, on receiving this year's prestigious Henry Baldwin Award by the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, and extend our congratulations to Amy Granberry, a Visit Corpus Christi board member, who has been appointed as the new Chair for the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce.

Organizational & Operations

  • President and CEO of Visit Corpus Christi, Brett Oetting has been appointed Chair of the board for Destination International CDME. As a part of his duties, he had the opportunity to lead the annual board strategic planning session in Dallas, Texas. 

  • Members of the Visit Corpus Christi supported this year's NAACP Freedom Banquet in order to continue showcasing support for industry partners throughout the Coastal Bend and furthermore, fostering community collaboration. Congratulations to Jeremy Coleman on a successful event!

Convention Sales & Services

  • Travis, Nicole, and local Convention Sales partners showcased a new coastal-themed booth at Southwest Showcase, unveiling it to over 150 meeting planners and DMO peers, leading to successful meetings with Texas-based planners and securing four RFPs for future conferences in Corpus Christi.

  • Rebekah Everhart and Travis Milum participated in RCMA Emerge in San Antonio, where Visit Corpus Christi, represented in a coastal-themed booth, garnered five Request for Proposals (RFPs) for future religious conferences and meetings among 200 event suppliers and destinations.

  • Travis Milum, Senior Director of Accounts, has been appointed to the MPI Texas Hill Country Chapter Board of Directors as the Director of Retention and Engagement. In this role Travis is responsible for keeping active chapter members engaged within the meetings industry through hosting various membership events throughout the Texas Hill Country region. 

Marketing & Communications 

  • PR Manager, America had the opportunity to represent Corpus Christi at this year's International Media Marketplace through a series of one on one appointments to connect with top-tier media including National Geographic, FORBES, and PEOPLE Magazine. By establishing these working relationships, Visit Corpus Christi has an opportunity at obtaining optimal media coverage.

  • Visit Corpus Christi's leisure winter campaign, spanning from November to January 31st, displayed visitor interest for the upcoming months. The Inspire campaign delivered 1.7 million impressions and 12,503 video completions from :15-second winter advertising video spots, displaying ways visitors can enjoy the outdoor winter season in Corpus Christi. Affluent potential travelers and Texas families showed the highest interest through having the most completed video plays, with a video completion rate at 0.82% and 0.72%, respectively. Overall, the leisure campaign received 7.4 million impressions to date with 778K website visitors, and 6,531 inquiries to sign up for the newsletter.

  • The Public Relations team recently had the opportunity to promote the Gulf Coast Capital to two key leisure markets. America attended the Chicago Travel and Adventure Show and Morgan attended the Denver Travel and Adventure Show; both with the goal to entice and inform travelers on why they should choose the Gulf Coast Capital as their preferred beach destination. 

Sports Commission 

  • Corpus Christi successfully hosted four prestigious table tennis tournaments in January, attracting participants from over 40 countries, generating a significant economic impact of over $600,000, and garnering international attention through global broadcasts.

  • Breanna and Joey hosted representatives from USA Taekwondo as they look for destinations to host their new Beach Series.  The Sports Commission is en-route to submit a bid for this event, which would attract an estimated 900 visitors over 5 days, in the fall of 2027.

Experience & Visitor Services

  • The Gulf Coaster crew is hiring! Help Visit Corpus Christi recruit and spread the word as Corpus Christi's official hype squad gears up for spring and summer. If you know someone who would make a great fit, send them our way to apply!

  • The Luck of Corpus Christi is coming to the Visitor Information Center (VIC) for the next Art Walk on March 1st. Stop by and join the Gulf Coasters for discounts, scratch-offs, and more at the VIC!

Film and Music Commission

  • The Corpus Christi Film Commission is partnering with the Ritz Theatre to put on a film screening event for Corpus Christi native, and Latina Filmmaker, Sharon Arteaga. The screening will feature her short film submissions from various Texas Film Festivals. The Film Commission is hosting Sharon in Corpus Christi, and her event will not only include the film screening but also a Q&A and meet and greet during the March 2024 ArtWalk. 

  • A partnership between the music commission and the CC-Songwriters continues to make strides. The group annually hosts a local songwriter workshop to showcase the great talent from around Corpus Christi and surrounding areas. The 2024 Corpus Christi Songwriters Festival, Music Awards and Conference will be held from Feb. 16-18, 2024, and will feature international, national and regionally renowned songwriters during a two-day event, hosting an array of concerts, workshops, and other songwriting-related events.
